TFF SALUTES TANZANIANS’ PATRIOTISM

WALLACE Karia, the Tanzania Football Federation (TFF) president, has thanked all Tanzanians for all their patriotism to support the national soccer team, Taifa Stars, in their bid to qualify for the upcoming African Nations Cup in Egypt.

Mr Karia thanked the government, various entities, the press, security organs and every Tanzanian for supporting Taifa Stars, especially in their last game against Uganda which the home team won 3-0 to book a place for the finals.
He further said, TFF believes everyone supported Taifa Stars because of their long time thirsty of seeing Tanzania taking part in the AFCON finals after a period of more than thirty years.
The last time Stars qualified was in 1979 for the Nigeria finals in 1980, and since then they have been participators rather than competitors.
“This was really patriotism, we actually salute you for what you did because everybody played his/her part for the national team,” said Mr Karia.
Adding: “This support to Taifa Stars raised morale to players and we at TFF believe that you will continue supporting all national teams and any Tanzanian representative in international competitions.”
For the time being, the women’s national soccer team, Twiga Stars, are camping out in preparation for their Olympic qualifier against DR Congo on April 5, 2019.
Likewise, the national U-17 team, Serengeti Boys, is preparing for the African Youth Championships slated for April 14-28, 2019 in Dar es Salaam.
Mr Karia pleaded for Tanzanians to support the teams for their coming games, and said he hoped they will flood stadiums once the U-17 championship starts at the National and Chamazi Stadium.
He, however, promised that, TFF will continue to make sure all national teams get proper preparations in order that they get positive results.
