NYERI WOMAN CAUSES DRAMA AFTER COURT FREES HUBBY ACCUSED OF RAPING DAUGHTER

Jane Njeri, a mother of three, was not amused by the court’s decision to set her estranged husband Peter Hinga free.
A woman caused drama in Nyeri High Court after her husband was set free and not found guilty of raping his daughter.
Jane Njeri, a mother of three, was not amused by the court’s decision to set her estranged husband Peter Hinga free.
Justice John Mativo squashed an early judgment by a lower court that had found Hinga guilty of incest and sentenced him to life imprisonment.
Hinga was accused of raping his 17-year-old daughter on July 11, 2012.
He moved to the high court and appealed the ruling, claiming that he was mistakenly convicted on insufficient evidence.
He also argued that the evidence relied on by the trial magistrate was contradictory and did not support the charge. He additionally argued that the lower court disregarded his defence.
After pleading his case, the court granted his appeal and freedom, nine months later.
Njeri said she was pained to see her former husband walk away Scot-free,  yet he had messed up the life of his teenage daughter.
