Morogoro:
Communication & Transport Workers Union of Tanzania (COTWU) of Tanzania has temporarily suspended top union leaders over alleged abuse of power.
Addressing reporters today during a COTWU (T) meeting the acting Union chairman, Idrissa Washington  called an emergency national council meeting on April 27 this year to decide the fate of their union.

“Our Union had already collapsed long ago. We needed a way of reviving it. In normal circumstances, we always call the council meeting once a year, but this year we decided to call twice, this of April and then August,” said Washington.
He said there had been misunderstanding among party members and leaders regarding the running of the union.
The suspended leaders are the national Union Secretary Mr. Mathias Mjema who has been accused of abuse of power and embezzlement of funds using a personal account.
