SOROTI- Following
the commencement of investigations into health care delivery in Teso
Sub region, Police have recovered a government X-ray machine from a
private clinic in Kaberamaido District.
The
machine was on Monday recovered from Lubanga Ber Country Health Clinic
in Kaberamaido town. It reportedly belongs to the Soroti Regional
Referral Hospital, a public health facility. It went missing from the
hospital some years ago under unclear circumstances.
During
a press briefing on Wednesday, Soroti Resident District commissioner Mr
John Stephen Ekoom, said the machine was recovered by security
operatives after a tipoff.
East Kyoga regional
police spokesperson, Mr Michael Odongo told Daily Monitor that two
suspects have been arrested in connection with the recovered X-ray
machine.
“We have two suspects whom we think
can help us know how the machine ended up in their private clinic in
Kaberamaido town,” Mr Odongo said.
Mr Odongo
said the police are working with a team from State House Health
Monitoring Unite headed by Dr Dian Atwine to investigate complaints
about the hospital’s operations.
“In our initial
investigations, a number of allegations are coming up against some
medical workers in various health units,” Mr Odongo said.
