In his condolence message read by minister of Trade, Amelia Kyambadde on Monday, the President described the deceased as a nationalist who fought hard to uplift the living standards of Ugandans through agriculture.
During his lifetime, Kityo spearheaded the formation of several farmers’ associations in the country including Uganda National Farmers’ Association.
Mr John Bosco Lubyayi Sseguya, the MP Mawokota South, commended Mr Kityo for his efforts in transforming the economic status of people in the constituency through training workshops which enabled farmers appreciate agriculture as their main source of household income.
“We will always remember his care, advice and love he had for us all. In fact, our husband, was a man of all seasons,” Ms Betty Kityo, one of the widows said.
Mr Charles Ogang, the president Uganda National Farmers’ Association, said the agriculture sector has lost an “asset.”
Kityo died last Saturday at Nkozi Hospital after battling diabetes and high blood pressure for more than 10 years.
