Resident District Commissioner Mr Robert Abak said the suspect who is
still at large reportedly performed the procedure on Joseph Eyen, a
resident of Awonkok, Omwonyo-lee Parish in Ogor Sub-county.
The operation was reportedly performed at the home of the quack doctor.
“The victim bled profusely before succumbing to the wounds but the suspect escaped,” Mr Abak told Daily Monitor on Tuesday
“This
man [the suspect] has been roaming villages and markets operating on
people suffering from. He has been cutting off their tonsils,” the RDC
said.
“Sometimes you find mothers lining up along the roads
waiting for him to operate on their children suffering from tonsillitis
and false teeth.”
Tonsils are small organs at the sides of the throat, near the base of the tongue.
Tonsillitis is inflammation of the tonsils. It's usually caused by a viral or bacterial infection.
It is a common among children, teenagers and young adults.
Mr Abak, who doubles as the district security committee chairperson, said the suspect is a resident of Ogor Sub-county.
“We
have been telling people to go to hospital whenever they are sick. But
they instead go to people who cannot diagnose any disease,” Mr Abak
said. “And to make it worst, this man has been using the same sharp
object to operate his patients.”
