The
army has suspended Col Felix Kulayigye from the office of chief
political commissar over his involvement in a gold deal scandal.
The UPDF spokesperson Lt. Col Paddy Ankunda confirmed Kulayigye's suspension on his twitter handle.
Col Ankunda who revealed he was receiving "incessant calls" over Col Kulayigye's fate noted that:
"Hon Col Felix Kulayigye has been suspended from office of Chief Political Commissar,” Lt. Col. Ankunda tweeted.
The UPDF spokesperson noted that the suspension will last until the investigations into his involvement are complete.
“(Col
Kulayigye has been suspended) pending further inquiries about his
conduct in the issue of gold business.” Ankunda tweeted on Wednesday
evening.
Recently, Daily Monitor broke a story in which Mr
Richard Kamugisha, a city businessman accused the UPDF chief political
commissar and army representative in parliament of kidnapping employees
of his company and ransacking its premises after a gold transaction deal
went bad.
Col Kulayigye will however continue representing the army in Parliament.
