Bunda. The District Council has set aside Sh30 million for construction of a modern market in Bundastoo Ward.
Speaking to The Citizen on Wednesday, Bundastoo councillor Chiluma Subi said the project commences next year.
He said in addition to bringing foodstuff and other products closer to wananchi, the market would create employment opportunities for youth in the district.
Mr Subi added that the council will implement the project using its own money.
“During the last full council meeting we agreed to set aside Sh30 million for construction of a modern market in the ward,” said Mr Subi.
A resident, Mrs Anna Kubaga, said for a long time they have been forced to walk more than seven kilometres to Bunda Town to shop for food and other items.
