Singida. Tunajali II programme, which supports the provision of sustainable, comprehensive and integrated HIV prevention, care, treatment and support services, has donated computer sets worth over Sh523 million to health facilities, local councils and civil society organisations (CSOs) in five regions.
The 187 computer sets will be distributed in Dodoma, Iringa, Morogoro, Njombe and Singida, which are Tunajali’s regions of operations.

The sets, bought with the generous support of the American people through the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) as a part of the US President’s Emergency Funds for Aids Relief (Pepfar), comprise Dell OptiPlex computers, UPS, printers and software, according to a statement issued by the programme.
Tunajali II bought the computers to replace outdated machines as well as to computerise sites that previously had no computers. This will strengthen the provision of services at HIV/Aids care and treatment centres (CTCs) and CSOs in the five regions.
The computers will be distributed to local councils, CSOs and health facilities, based on their requirements, which include monitoring and evaluation, ordering medicines from Medical Stores Department (MSD), recording Community Health Fund (CHF) insurance data and tracking infants exposed to HIV.
The sets, which are distributed to support monitoring and evaluation activities in some CTCs, will be used to ensure accurate data on people living with HIV/Aids. This data drives the activities of the programme since having the right information at the right time for the right action is important for timely and successful interventions.
Handing over 21 sets of computers worth Sh60 million allocated to Singida Region, Tunajali Regional Programme Christopher Hamaro said the computers would simplify and speed up HIV/Aids work in the region.
The machines were handed over to Singida Regional Administration Secretary Angelina Rutumbi.
Mr Hamaro said recipients in the region included Singida Municipal Council and Mkalama, Singida, Iramba, Ikungi and Manyoni district councils. Other beneficiaries are Queen of Universe, Makiungu, St Gaspar and Iambi hospitals and Puma House, Sokoine and Kinyangiri health centres.
Dispensaries that will benefit from the donation are Doromoni, Mwamagembe, Nkoko, Rungwa, Gumanga, Itaja, Mgori and Mitundu RC Mission.
