MOZAMBIQUE REPATRIATES BODIES OF SLAIN MALAWIANS

Lilongwe - The bodies of four Malawian nationals who were shot in Mozambique while on their way to South Africa have been repatriated in a decomposed state, due to delays in the embalming of the corpses, Nyasa Times has reported.Families of the deceased were discouraged from viewing the mortal remains to avoid second trauma, the report said.
Foreign Affairs Minister Francis Kasaira claimed that the deaths came as a result of an attack on 24 Malawian men who were travelling to South Africa by way of Mozambique.
Dressed in military attire, the perpetrators were said to have opened fire on the group, killing four people and leaving another three severely wounded.
According to one of the survivors of the attack, the lorry they were travelling in was stopped at a checkpoint and as they were being interrogated, the unidentified gunmen shot at them, killing the deceased instantly.
The shooting prompted other passengers to flee.
"Some Malawians, who fled from the scene on foot when the shooting began, told us that the gunmen were in military attire. It is not known whether they were members of Mozambique national security forces or Renamo rebel group," Pasqually Zulu, an immigration officer stationed at the Malawi-Mozambique border post was quoted as saying.
