GOVERNMENT BANS SECURITY FIRMS FROM EMPLOYING UNTRAINED GUARDS

Kilolo District Commissioner, Gerald Guninita
Iringa regional authorities have banned private security firms   from employing guards who had not undergone military trainings, saying it is contrary the country’s rules and regulations.

“Employing guards from the streets will undermine the people’s peace and security and the country as a whole,” said Kilolo District Commissioner, Gerald Guninita when closing training for local militia groups from Ibumu and Mlafu villages in Ilula division.

He said that employing people who haven’t undergone professional trainings denies employment opportunities to those who attended trainings from the National Service and other related programmes.

Guninita insisted that such trainings were crucial for youths as they prepare them to be patriotic and ready to defend the nation.
In their speech that was read by Isdory Kihenge the graduates said they faced a lot of challenges including lack of weapons for practices.

“We were forced to learn the use of some weapons theoretically…the government should ensure availability of weapons for the military colleges,” said Kihenge.

He mentioned the other challenges as lack of uniforms whereas they are forced to contribute money to buy them. He said some of the youths decided to leave the trainings after failing to buy the uniforms.

A total 140 recruiters graduated from the trainings which were conducted for six months. The DC awarded certificates to all the graduates.

Early this month, more than 150 National Services recruiters marched to the State House in Dar es Salaam pushing for employment.
The youths are demanding for permanent employment from the Ministry of Defence and National Service, Ministry of Home Affairs and Ministry of Natural Resources and Tourism.
