PADER. Pader District health department is set to introduce a strategy of facilitating boda boda motorcyclists who transport expectant mothers for antenatal services at health facilities.
Speaking to district officials at Pajule health centre IV at the weekend, Pader District health officer, Dr Alex Layoo, said they hope the initiative will improve the declining community response towards accessing antenatal and maternity services.
“We are exploring an approach that will see boda bodas who will bring pregnant mothers to the various health facilities be issued payment vouchers that would be computed and paid at the end of the month.
“We are doing very badly in antenatal services and family planning,” Dr Layoo said.
Without divulging how much would be offered to the riders, Dr Layoo asked local leaders and civil servants to intensify massive sensitisation campaigns in the community to embrace quality health services at government health units.
