A Papy Kabamba Tshishimbi’s 15th minute strike
against Ruvu Shooting was all that Yanga needed to go top of the Mainland
Premier League table.
The 1-0 win put the Jangwani Boys at 83 points mark, one
ahead of archi-rivals Simba who on Monday squandered a chance to open up a
four-point lead at the summit of the Mainland Premier League after battling to
a barren draw with Azam FC.
Yanga have only two games remaining while Simba, with 82
points, still have five games to go and are likely in line of winning the title
back-to-back this season.
However, Yanga, seeking to reclaim the title they lost last
season to Simba, fluffed a number of chances in yesterday’s match at the Uhuru
Stadium, the culprits being Hartier Makambo and Tshishimbi, the two Congolese
imports.
