Rwot David Onen
Acana II
By JOHN OKOT & OWEN ODONG
GULU. Acholi Paramount Chief, Rwot David Onen
Acana II, has disagreed with High Court judge Justice Alfonse
Owiny-Dollo on the move to register land for title certification in
Acholi.
The cultural leader said the exercise will create suspicion among land owners and breed conflicts.
He was responding to Justice Dollo’s recent call to Acholi leaders to embrace land registration in a bid to curb land grabbing now rampant in Acholi.

Rwot Acana II noted that most of the local Acholi
community are still ignorant on land registration matters, which he says
could trigger more clashes.
He appealed to leaders to be patient and engage in further consultations before embracing the exercise.
“I ask you all for support, not to rush into land registration before we engage in more consultations to make correct decisions for the best interests of our people,” Rwot Acana II said during a land conference in Gulu Town recently.
