MINISTER RALLIES FOR FISH FARMING

By Longino Muhindo
BUNDIBUGYO- The State minister for Agriculture, Mr Christopher Taban Kibanzanga, on Tuesday asked farmers in the Bundibugyo District to clear part of their cocoa plantations and start fish farming and growing of food crops.

While speaking at Butholya Primary School in Ngamba Sub-county, the minister said Mt Rwenzori favours all types of agriculture which the residents should embrace.
“The potential of the Rwenzori Mountain is to accelerate us to a middle income status through crop production, fish farming and animal husbandry is massive,” Mr Kibanzanga said.
“We must diversify our farming systems by engaging in commercial farming specifically the growing of food crops on a large scale,” he advised.
Kibanzanga said his ministry will select two farmers from each of the sub counties to start up fish farming projects and also provide farmers with species and income.
